Barely breakeven month, taken upto over £1k thanks to rakeback.

I struggled again with routine and focus. It's been a lot more difficult to find very +EV matches and it is dangerous to be playing long matches vs good players just to get tables or hands in. I've been cramming in hands when I should probably have quit and I've been playing a lot when my mind isn't really in it.

There are many factors contributing to my poor results the last few months, and hopefully I can address them and try to take control of the variable that I have control over.

I lost a little on my laptop, but again I've found it difficult to calculate my rakeback so I'm just going to say those cancel each other out. Next year I'm gonna be more strict about record keeping as in recent moths it has been poor.

No luck in London UKIPT. Don't think I'm gonna bother with there live events as they are a big waste of time and very boring.

I've had a bit of trouble finding form and playing good consistently. This month I had too many holidays/trips away... which is funny as I'm writing this well into November which hasn't really kicked off yet in terms of poker because of another trip (Amsterdam for Celtic match). I've a good feeling that I've "got my game back" and hopefully I can get in the zone for the rest of November and into December and finish with a decent year.

Not much to say about last month apart from I played a ton on Micro anon tables. Wasn't playing my best for spells, found it difficult to focus.

October is gonna be difficult because I'm away for nearly 2 weeks (UKIPT London and holiday with Claudia in the sun).

Rakeback is gonna be added to next months totals as I've left it too late to calculate it properly without a major headache.

Very nice month, although a slight hiccup at the end. It seems to have been very quiet at the tables which is concerning and I've had too look to Micro Gaming's anonymous tables to get more action. There is a thin line to be walked whilst playing there, as it's completely different to playing someone when you know who it is. Because you need to constantly defend the tables and because there are so little tables (3 per stake), it is easy to make mistakes of playing players that you shouldn't be playing, playing too many tables etc. It's very draining sitting there because the action is constant and obviously there will be times when I'll be playing someone who could be very good, which is more taxing mentally.


Anyway, a few shitty days towards the end of the month ment that I extended my planned break to 5 days for my Auntys wedding and the weekend. This entry is a little late because I couldn't find the time to write it up/ was a bit annoyed at the end of my month.


I can't complain though as it was a great month £ wise, I had hoped after an amazing start that I might be able to make it my best month ever, but that wasn't to be.


In September I hope to play well and perhaps be a bit more smart about when/who/which mental state I play when playing on MG.

Won £1.7k on laptop and lost £200 untracked on SKY.

Decent month although there were times that I definatly wasn't playing my best. I ran a good bit under EV though and it's always good to still book a good month when that happens. Same story as last month on things to improve- keeping good mindset and playing my A game more. This month was HOT here and I felt myself getting tilted more easily because of the heat.

I've had a good month non-poker wise, with T in The Park in the middle and a nice weekend away in Torridon with my folks and Claudia. We climbed a Monroe (my first) and went canoeing. Good times. I'm off to the Celtic vs Elfsborg, CL round 2 qualifier tonight. Hoping for a good win and maybe another venture to the group stages. Last years CL campaign was amazing.

June 2013

Decent month, although a lot of that profit was book in my first week of playing. I had a great, relaxing holiday at the start of the month with Claudia in Malta. I've switched to PT$, seems a lot less laggy then HM". I've also finally started creating a specific HU HUD.

Next month I need to focus on taking proper breaks during my working day (still ~9am-5pm), and it might be a good idea to stop early some days to avoid playing when tired.

I've been eating healthy since I got back from Malta in an effort to slim down a little to a healthier weight. This has gone OK so far, it's far easier to eat healthy during the week. Beer has a lot of calories :(. Exercising a good amount too but could be more strict with this next month also.

I hope to get off to a decent start with both poker and diet/exercise. It will then be interrupted by TITP and recovery from that.

Very pleasing month again and nice to have won a decent amount before me and Claud's holiday to Malta.

I've been playing the shit regs and avoiding the decent ones for the most part. Had a lot of action from fish and although I've semi-tilted a few times, mostly I've played good and managed to quit when I'm tired or frustrated.

Gonna really enjoy my holiday and come back fresh hopefully ready for another good month.

Plus £1,310 from SKY. Rakeback was £1,230. Got £68.98k online now but had deposits totaling £3.35k into PH and Stars.fr this month.

Decent month. Could have been better if I had managed to get back into my groove quicker after my trip to Amsterdam. Can't complain though as it's my best month in a while and it feels good to have a £10k+ month after a while without one.

I feel like I have been playing much better than I was at the start of the year. For the most part I think I'm just not allowing myself to get frustrated. Be that from getting hit n ran, downtime between games or something I have been noticing a lot recently - hunger tilt. I've been trying to eat a lot more during the day when I'm playing and I've been taking a proper lunch break (usually going outside to eat by the river, which I love). I've been avoiding too much coffee also.

SKY I was up £1.8k added to the graph above brings it too £8.4k. Meaning rakeback/bonus was £1.7k.

March 2013

My computer is now working better than ever and it's one less thing to sorry about. I'm going to start calculating profit/loss from what is actually in my accounts at the end of each month, as I have not been including rakeback in my results for the last year on this blog. It won't increase my winning too much, but an extra couple of hundred quid a month will hopefully make the numbers look better and at the end of the day is more accurate.

So this month my total profits were £5,680. 20.6k tracked hands, 96 hours, 214 hands/hr. This includes ~7k hands of breakeven Zoom, which I don't think I will be playing much again. Also I lost £500 on SKY which is included in that overall figure.

I have been recording opening/closing balances on paper but I might look into making a spreadsheet, which will be easier in the long run.

Anyway, I feel I'm slowly getting back into a rhythm and winning mentality after 3 or 4 months of struggling. It's getting warmer and lighter at nights which improves my mood and my outlook, which I think often affects my poker results.

The new BSP album came out this month, which is amazing.

February 2013

Annoyingly I had to wipe my computer at the end of this month, I created a backup/restore file in HM but any time I try to restore there is an error.

It's not a huge deal but I was a little disappointed at losing that record of the past ~3 years of my play. But I think that happens to most players and tbh I'm just glad that I have this blog for my records.

It was interesting to be able to look over really old hands and run filters and check results over such a long time period and amount of hands. Oh well not much I can do about it now. It's an excuse to start using HEM2 I guess.

I'd been getting freezes and blue screens far too often, so I had to do something.

No graph for this month which is the first time in 3 years.

Disappointing month. I fucked about playing regs on MG too much which is obv high variance. I also lost a few buy ins at €1k which didn't help (played ok there though).

So I ended up just under £100k, it's slightly annoying but that is just a number and I did exceed my £70k goal so I feel good about the year overall.
